Presented on non-binary and genderqueer cultural responsiveness

On May 7, Queer Confluence Executive Director Dr. Sasha Strong and co-author and advisory board member Caleb Feldman presented a poster at the National Transgender Health Summit in San Francisco. This poster summarizes research findings from a 2016 community-based participatory action research study on how healthcare professionals can improve their cultural responsiveness with non-binary and genderqueer (NBGQ) people. We asked 7 community members and co-researchers to generate ideas for how counselors can serve NBGQ people better, yielding 5 themes and 12 best practices. Those qualitative findings provided the seeds for presentations and trainings, a book chapter on trans health, and our poster at NTHS.

Funding for this conferences was provided by Social Justice Fund NW and our community donors. Thanks for your support in helping us improve conditions for trans and queer people everywhere! Download the poster or book chapter if you’d like to learn more. ☺
